Faces wrapped
Eyes gazing
Taking aim like vultures
There are sitting many a men

Don’t be concealed
Don’t low down your eyes
Don’t care
Whether kerchief is pulled up

Raise your head
And make their eyes lowered
With your magnificence
They will tempt
Amuse,coax
And even threaten you

They are infact
Not wolves
They are jaikals
Don’t be tempted at their thirst
Don’t be weakened

O maid,listen
Keep heart
As it is you who will be called guilty
Keep quiet
Instructions will also be given
Your character will be blurred
This will be told to you
Here plants are forced to be dwarf
Being made bonsai
They are used for decoration

But listen,o maid
You mustn’t surrender
You will be trodden,rundown
You Will be stared with hateful eyes
Even then
You should go on blooming
You should go on germinating
It is you whose name will be
Written in History
It is you who will be worshipped
But there is doubt
You may not breathe last before it

I know,
You haven’t to be History
You haven’t to be also worshipful
You should have a common life
Where
There shouldn’t be terror of
Your body being scratched
No anxiety for being grabbed
And feathers being cut

Where
There your smile may always be Blossomed
Without this fear
That
You will be called characterless

सुनो लड़की

सुनो लड़की!
शक्लें छिपाए और
आंखें गड़ाए हुए
गिद्ध जैसे निशाना साधे
बैठे हैं कई लोग यहां।
तुम छुपना मत,
आंखें नीची मत करना,
दुपट्टा कहीं खिसका तो नहीं,
इसकी भी परवाह न करना,
सिर उठाना और
नीची कर देना उनकी आंखेंं
अपने तेज से।
ललचाएंगे, बहलाएंगे,
फुसलाएंगे और देंगे
धमकियां भी वो।
दरअसल ये भेड़िए नहीं
गीदड़ हैं,
उनकी हवस में गल मत जाना,
बेचारी मत बन जाना तुम।
सुनो लड़की!
हिम्मत रखना
क्योंकि फिर भी गलत
तुम ही कहलाओगी।
चुुप रहना-
यह नसीहत भी दी जाएगी
तुम्हारा चरित्र धुंधला होगा,
यह बतलाया जाएगा।
यहां पौधों को भी
बौना रहने पर मजबूर
किया जाता है,
फिर बोनसाई बना कर सजाते हैं।
लेकिन सुनो लड़की!
तुम समर्पण मत करना,
रौंदा जाएगा, कुचला जाएगा
घृणित आंखों से तरेरा जाएगा,
फिर भी तुम
प्रस्फुटित होती रहना,
अंकुरित होती रहना।
इतिहास में नाम
तुम्हारा ही नाम दर्ज होगा,
पूजा भी तुमको जाएगा
डर है कि तुम
दम न तोड़ दो इससे पहले।
मालूम है मुझे,
तुम्हें इतिहास नहीं बनना,
तुम्हें पूज्य भी नही होना।
सामान्य जिंदगी चाहिए तुम्हें
जहां-
दहशत न हो अपनी देह
के नोचे जाने की,
फिक्र न हो दबोच कर
पर काटे जाने की,
जहां खिली रहे
तुम्हारी मुस्कुराहट
बिना इस डर के
कि-
तुम्हें चरित्रहीन कहा जाएगा।
